"Now I know the Lord saves His annointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm."
I recently had the painful privilege of discovering that my heart often trusts in chariots and horses to attempt to sustain my life: my marriage, my parenting, my ministry, my relationships, my work, my LIFE!
What a false sense of security they can be. While trusting in teachers, methods, professors, mentors, Bible study groups, support groups, parenting methods, books on prayer, etc. can be supportive and encouraging--they are NOT the answer. The answer lies in a person- Jesus Christ. I know, duh!? But...we must check ourselves lest we find ourselves on a wild ride in a chariot with a horse out of control.
I Peter 1:7- "These (trials) have come so that your faith- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

Roxanne-
It has been a pleasure to get to know you through your comments on Nancy's blog and now through your own! I enjoyed this post immensely! Would love to get together sometime and coffee talk!
Tess, I would love that, too. Will be in Riverside soon. Will call you.
Rox, how neat to link to you. I hope to keep up with you and Harriet too! Love to chat or e-mail sometime. I am filling some rather big shoes for an interim - shoes you have filled at Mag. before. Advice would be nice! Sabina
